Long and narrow boats are standard Mentawai mean of transport. Thanks to the shape these are really fast, but take some getting used to as they are not very stable.

Lombok views. This is actually a very popular sunset watching peninsula near Kuta, Lombok. It is obvious why.

Not sunset yet, but the views from the peninsula are amazing any time of the day.

With the wave peeling along the coast of this tiny island, just under the palm trees, there are not many more photogenic surf spots in the world.

It has been a while since our last Indonesia surf trip. We went to visit some friends in one of the best places for surfing in the world, Mentawai islands and we went to the Bali’s east neighbor, Lombok. It wasn’t the smoothest of trips. Missed flights, stitches, flu… but it was at the same time different, exciting and really good to be back in Indonesia. Here is a gallery of shots from both locations.
