SUSTAINABILITY

DryTide is committed to sustainability and reducing out impact on the environment. As an outdoor brand, our bond with the sea and nature in general is especially strong.

1. OPTIMIZED PACKAGING

One of the first steps we took was to ditch the cardboard packaging boxes. We replaced them with mailer bags because they make the packages much smaller. By using more compact packaging, the amount of material used in shipping and the overall volume and weight of the package is decreased. This saves a lot of space during shipping and allows the shipping companies to transport more packages using same amount of energy. This lowers the total amount of co2 produced by transport and significantly lowers the carbon footprint of our packages.

2. RECYCLED MATERIALS

Next step was the use of recycled materials in our everyday business process. This means use of recycled paper in our office, use of nature friendly materials for packing etc… and what is especially cool, we use Better Packaging shipping bags. These are made out of ocean plastic. This means that with every order order we ship we help take plastics OUT of the oceans.

3. WORKING ENVIRONMENT

DryTide backpacks are produced in China, at the moment this is the only place where this kind of production is possible (ultrasonic welding machines). The factory where we produce our bags has a TUV certificate, which certifies that the factory offers safe working environment for the workers working at the factory.

4. FUTURE

The next goal for us is to switch the materials used in backpack and bag production to recycled materials. So far none of the recycled materials available offer the same quality that we look for in our waterproof bags. We do however already use recycled fabric to make our padded laptop sleeves.
